We recommend books as an adjunct to counseling sessions. We call it “keeping the conversation going.” The way you are learning to think about life and talk with yourself is a completely different language and conversation. An hour a week is great, but it is small in comparison to the hours in your day. Whatever else you can do to keep this new conversation going will only benefit you. This can take place via books, CD’s, podcasts, spiritual retreats, meditation, journaling, etc.
There are hundreds of thousands of books out there, which can be overwhelming. These are the STARS of the books we have read over the years that have made an impact on us both personally and professionally. We have no invested interest or personal relationships with the authors. Our recommendation comes only from our experience. You are free to love them, or hate them or feel indifferent about them. The authors all have their own unique approach and personalities so read over their information and if their style appeals to you give it a read. The goal is to be supportive to your journey.
