Jaclyn Chung

Hello, I’m Jaclyn. For a long time, I thought about what it would be like to feel differently, to understand why I am the way I am, to be able to change. Regular personal psychotherapy transformed my life. I became aware of how my family influenced how I felt and what I believed about myself. I understood the role I played within my family and how I unconsciously acted to get my needs met. As I processed through hard, traumatic events in my life, I saw how I had previously coped with the pain in the best way I knew how. Prior to therapy, I didn’t know why I was attracted to certain relationships. Prior to therapy, I didn’t know how my individual dynamics impacted my relationships.

The realizations I gained in therapy started to impact how I interacted in my relationships. With more agency over my identity, I was able to connect more intimately in my relationships. The journey to healing is not easy. I have had to face difficult feelings. I have had to make behavioral changes that benefit my emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. I have also experienced transformational self-acceptance. It is ongoing and imperfect, but it is totally worth it.

I consider it a privilege to be able to walk alongside my clients in their own healing journeys. It is not easy to face your pain, but it is a courageous and worthwhile endeavor. I have worked with adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, issues of self-worth, substance use, grief and loss, and self-harm. I have also worked with couples and families facing communication problems, infidelity wounds, and parenting struggles. Together with you, I will help you process through your issues and help you uncover what you believe about yourself, others, and the world. I know that doing this work will help you create a life that is thriving.

I am originally from Florida, but have been living in San Diego for 5 years. I also spent 3 years living abroad in Spain where I taught English. I have been married to the love of my life since January 2017, and we are in the Navy. We have one fur baby, a German shepherd named Barnabas. In my free time, I love dancing, yoga, writing, traveling, skiing, and spending lots of time with my friends.
